UWA Summit 2024: UHD Technology Standards & Leaders Exhibition
“Enjoy the Ultra-Clear View, Capture the Vibrant Moments" - Held in Shenzhen From Nov 28 to 30, 2024
From 28 to 30 November 2024, UWA hosted the 2024 SUMMIT and UWA Members Conference in Shenzhen under the theme “Create Vivid World, Share Intelligent Future”. The event brought together over 600 participants. The exhibition titled UWA UHD Technology Standards & Ecosystem Leaders simultaneously showcased over 100 exhibits from 80 companies, covering the entire UHD industrial chain—from content creation to display terminals.
The exhibition comprehensively displayed UHD audio and video content collection, production, transmission, display, and end-user hardware and software products and solutions. It also covered standards and applications such as Audio & HDR Vivid, presenting UHD content and three-dimensional application scenarios.
International exhibitors including Samsung, MediaTek, Blackmagic Design, Colorfront, FilmLight, ACE, The Explorers Network Sas, and AIBD, unveiled remarkable demonstration products. This exhibition highlighted UWA’s achievements in technology breakthroughs, ecosystem building, and international standardization in 2024, reinforcing its global standing.
In the Chip Exhibition Area, Gokemicro, Amlogic, MediaTek, Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd., Allwinner Tech, and Unisoc presented a variety of ultra-high-definition terminal chips, including TV chips, video decoding chips, set-top box chips, and display chips.
In the Encoding and Transmission Exhibition Area, Sumavision exhibited the next-generation broadcast-grade high-quality 4K HEVC encoding products, including UHD encoders and a 5G+4K portable production and broadcasting backpack. Arcvideo Tech presented the 8K ultra-high-definition Vivid Audio and Video Encoder, which supports HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid, providing professional broadcast-grade services for 8K UHD live broadcasts. Sobey demonstrated the NVI Network Video Interface Technology, jointly developed by the China Media Group and Sobey. This technology enables lightweight production of real-time signals, meeting the demands of broadcast-grade media production and live broadcasting.
In the Tools Exhibition Area, FilmLight revealed its latest software, Baselight 6.0, which supports HDR Vivid. The newly introduced colour grading tool X Grade and the image style creation tool Chromogen bring revolutionary colour management and grading experience to industry users with cutting-edge colour technology. Colorfront demonstrated the Transkoder high-speed mastering and trans-coding system, which supports HDR/SDR dynamic conversion. It enables ultra-fast batch video and audio transcoding, multi-GPU ultra-real time rendering, and provides a high-fidelity colour engine. Blackmagic Design displayed its integrated tools for ultra-high-definition video from shooting to post-production. The Blackmagic Cloud system allows footage captured by cameras to be directly transferred into projects, eliminating the need for intermediate copying processes. The DaVinci Resolve post-production solution offers comprehensive functionality, including media management, editing, color grading, effects, audio, and final delivery.
In the Video Shooting exhibition area, Huachuang Gaoke (Beijing) unveiled their 4K UHD broadcast video camera and recording system, as well as the 4K ENG UHD camera and editing recorder, which is compatible with various B4 ENG lenses, reducing production costs. BOSMA displayed the Bosma 8K broadcast-grade full-frame camera B1, the first domestic 8K compact UHD camera, suitable for 8K single-camera positions, news features, sports broadcasts, cultural programs, and various new media productions. UDCAM presented its 4K/8K broadcast-grade EFP camera system, which has been tested by authoritative institutions such as the Academy of Broadcast Planning, NRTA, the National Radio and Television Administration, China Electronics Standardization Institute, and Guangdong Radio and Television Station.
AIXINMUSIC and CTVIT jointly presented their Vivid Post-Production and Playback System. Based on the Yamaha Nuage multichannel production platform coupled with the CTVIT Vivid Audio rendering and playback software, the system provides the audience with an immersive audio-visual experience.
ACE unveiled its independently developed TruSound solution alongside the Avid MTRX Studio and S1 Dock controller, showcasing industry-leading solutions for immersive audio production. From Pro Tools paired with Petal Vivid for sound source creation to TruSound’s real-time rendering and playback, the system optimized audio performance across various scenarios, offering full-process support for the Audio Vivid format.
The Home exhibition area focused on family and personal terminal applications, showcasing UHD televisions from brands like Hisense, Samsung, Haier, Skyworth, and Huawei. It also featured smart set-top boxes from China Telecom, China Mobile, ZTE, Tencent Aurora, and FiberHome. In addition, Huawei, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Honor displayed products such as smartphones, headphones, and tablets. Fidek Audio presented sound systems and movie audio solutions, while Shenzhen EGREAT displayed the A20 8K Dual Vivid hard disk player alongside other professional audio and video players.
The exhibition comprehensively and multilaterally demonstrated solutions for experiencing HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid in the home. The high-quality visual content was provided for the home exhibition area by Tencent, iQIYI, Migu Video, Tiantian Grow-up Films, and The Explorers.
In the Immersive Experience Zone, the "Vivid Audio-Visual Wireless Home Theater Experience Room," based on Samsung’s 8K TV products and OpenLab wireless technology, featured the Samsung Neo QLED 8K 85-inch QN900D display. Leveraging the interference-resistant, precise synchronization technology of OpenLab, it provided visitors with a 3D, immersive, home-theater-level auditory experience.
The exhibition also featured a home projection area, where OBE unveiled the Dayan Orange X30 Ultra 4K Ultra HD Laser Cloud Platform Projector, which supports Audio and HDR Vivid for true-to-life TV-level picture quality. JMGO presented the JMGO N3 Ultra Max, a pure three-colour laser zoom projector with AI intelligent control and cloud platform, which also supports HDR Vivid. The gradual support for projection devices brings ultra-high-definition technology closer to households.
HiSilicon showcased the GPMI (General Purpose Multimedia Interface) modular set-top box prototype at this exhibition. The GPMI interface provides aggregated transmission capabilities for power supply, multimedia, and data control. Compared to traditional set-top boxes it further simplifies the circuitry and operation process. In the future, it will support television and various audio and video host devices.
In the XR exhibition area was Migu’s Future Space and Migu Video-Vision. 4K Garden presented a comprehensive solution for ultra-high-definition filming, production, and broadcasting. Changba demonstrated the Kaifei VR camera, while Beijing NDT the Audio Vivid control and monitoring software. Attendees could experience an immersive travel experience by wearing VR headsets.
BOE demonstrated a wide range of ultra-high-definition products, including the Magic Box XR immersive experience, 110-inch 16K naked-eye 3D display, 75-inch UB Cell TV, light-field 3D display, and thin/narrow bezel digital signage panels.
The LUXEED R7, EXEED ET, and three EVs supported by Sinemedia were presented at the 2024 UWA SUMMIT exhibition's vehicle area. All three vehicles are equipped with Audio Vivid technology, which offers a richer sense of direction and spatial awareness compared to traditional in-car audio systems. With audio content provided by platforms like NetEase Music, Himalaya, China National Radio Cloud Listening, and Huawei Music, this technology delivers an immersive in-car listening experience, transporting users to live settings of pop music, audiobooks, sports events, and concerts.
In the display exhibition area, Ledman displayed a 163-inch 8K Micro LED home cinema wall, while CVTE presented an ultra-high-definition corporate conference screen. Unilumin displayed a 110-inch all-in-one UTV SC162U, and Unioman a 110-inch 8K Mini LED professional display supporting the HDR Vivid technology standard. These displays demonstrated ultra-high-definition 8K content with vibrant clarity to the on-site audience.
Additionally, this exhibition featured participation from UWA member organizations and industry partners, including: Boya Realscene, Novastar, Fudan University, Hangzhou Bingte, Shanghai Anystreaming, Dreamula, Info Media, Jingce Electronics, Malanshan Laboratory, Beijing Digital National Engineering Laboratory, National Innovation Center for UHD video Technology, National Engineering Research Center of Digital Television, Trust DTA, and AIBD. They highlighted a diverse range of ultra-high-definition content, products, and solutions.
This exhibition shone a spotlight of UWA's achievements in 2024, highlighting breakthroughs in technology, ecosystem development, member services, and brand building. Focusing on the progress made in standardization and overseas expansion.
UWA now has over 41 overseas members from 22 countries and regions. The association participated in events such as IBC, MIPTV (Cannes Film Festival), BCA (Asia Broadcast and Media Exhibition), and AMS (Asian Media Summit). UWA has also established an international standards group and Audio Vivid has been included in ITU BS.2493 standard, as well as HDR Vivid to be included in the BT.2408 technical report.
The 2024 UWA SUMMIT UHD Ecosystem Exhibition was successfully concluded with the collaboration of over 80 domestic and international member partners. It was a great event for the ultra-high-definition industry and an exploration of future audiovisual technologies. The diversification of terminal devices, the richness of UHD content, and the innovation in production technologies all demonstrate the vitality and prospects of the UHD industry. We believe that in the near future, the UHD will not only exist as an edged technology but also become a new lifestyle, creating a more vibrant, colorful, and imaginative audiovisual world.
