On April 22, 2025, during the opening ceremony and keynote session of the 31st China International Broadcasting Network Exhibition (CCBN2025), the National Radio and Television Administration announced 2025 as the “Year of UHD Development,” introducing the “1+3+6+6” action plan to accelerate progress. Against this backdrop, on April 26, the Ultra HD World Association (UWA) successfully facilitated an in-depth technical exchange between Qatar’s Al Jazeera Media Network and UWA Executive Council member, China Media Group (CMG).

Under UWA’s coordination, Mr. Ahmed Marzouq H M Al-Fahad, Executive Director of Technology and Network Operations (CTO) at Al Jazeera, led a delegation of ten technical experts to visit CMG. The visiting team toured key facilities including CMG’s 8K large-screen display, broadcast studios, the UHD cloud production center, and the integrated UHD communication hub of the CCTV Video platform. Mr. Jiang Wenbo, Chairman of UWA and Director of the National Key Laboratory of UHD Audio-Visual Production and Broadcasting, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit and provided detailed briefings.

Following the tour, the two sides engaged in a focused meeting session for detailed presentations and in-depth discussions.

Mr. Xu Wei, Director of International Cooperation of UWA, introduced the Association’s technical standards, international expansion efforts, global ecosystem initiatives, and the 2025 roadmap for UHD development. He emphasized UWA’s active collaborations and standard deployments across Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region. The Al Jazeera team was particularly impressed by successful case studies from UWA member The Explorers (France) in promoting HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid UHD content, recognizing UWA’s strong technical capabilities and growing international influence. They expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration on UHD content production and the adoption of advanced standards.

Mr. Lin Fei, an expert from CMG’s Technology Bureau, shared an overview of CMG’s UHD production and broadcasting systems, explaining the strategies behind IP-based transformation, UHD workflow deployment, technical safeguards, and risk management. Mr. Jiang Wenbo addressed questions regarding the challenges of IP migration, cybersecurity measures, and approaches to counter AI-driven DeepFake risks.
